Our story

We're not professional dancers, but ballet enthusiasts who, even as adults, still find joy in classical ballet and want to continue improving.
Vanda Skopalová Ballet Studio was founded in September 2024 in response to the cancellation of adult ballet classes at I.V. Psota Ballet School at the National Theatre in Brno. Our goal was to continue something as beautiful and noble as ballet, even in adulthood. To maintain the quality of teaching, we work with professional instructors, have found a spacious studio, and equipped it with ballet barres and a piano. This allows us to offer classes with live piano accompaniment from our accompanists.
After six months of successful operation, our classes have received great feedback. Based on the success of our lessons, we're planning new events and workshops focused on different aspects of ballet.

Our Philosophy
At Vanda Skopalová Ballet Studio, we approach teaching with respect for each dancer's individuality. We honor the classical ballet tradition, but we also adapt it to meet the needs of adult students. Our goal is not just to teach technique, but to ignite a love for dance and movement, to nurture your creativity, and encourage self-expression.
We believe that ballet is more than just physical exercise – it is an art form that nourishes the soul, calms the mind, and brings joy. It provides space for self-realization, improves concentration, and teaches patience and discipline. In our classes, you won't encounter unhealthy competition or pressure for perfection, but a supportive atmosphere where every step forward is celebrated.
Our instructors
Ballet classes are taught by professional instructors with years of teaching experience.

Petra Říhová
My name is Petra, and I'm a graduate of a dance conservatory. Ballet and dance are my lifelong passions, which I dedicate myself to with love and respect.
Every Monday in Brno, I lead ballet classes, where I strive to pass on the beauty, technique, and joy of dance to future generations.
Petra teaches the intermediate course.

Katka Pavelková
My name is Katka, and I'm a graduate of the Dance Conservatory in Brno. I've had the opportunity to dance on the stage of the National Theatre Brno (NdB) in both classical ballets like Swan Lake, Giselle, and The Nutcracker, and in dramatic plays such as Zaslíbení, Popelka, and Čert a Káča. Ballet and the world of theater are an indispensable part of my life. In recent years, I've also discovered a passion for fitting ballet pointe shoes, which I find incredibly fulfilling and enjoyable, even though it can sometimes feel like alchemy!
In ballet, I believe both correct technical execution of elements and the often-overlooked emotion and experience are crucial. Therefore, the goal of my classes is for us to dance with love, joy, and technical precision.
Katka leads the Beginner course.
